This installation is composed of an oak altar and four gold patens (objects used in the Catholic liturgy to place the host during the Mass). Each paten is positioned at a certain distance from a candle opposite it. The patens reflect the light of the candles and create four projections against the wall, evoking images that are just as microcosmic as they are macrocosmic. Here, Samyn is confronting evocations of a physical reality with symbolic objects whose function has perhaps become cut off from the physical world or is losing its original meaning.

Cette installation est composée d’un autel en chêne et de quatre patènes dorées (objets utilisés en liturgie catholique pour poser l’hostie durant l’office religieux). Chaque patène est placée verticalement à diverses distances d’une bougie qui lui fait face. Les patènes reflètent la lumière des bougies et créent quatre projections contre le mur, évoquant autant des images microcosmiques que macrocosmiques. Fabrice Samyn confronte ici des évocations d’une réalité physique à des objets symboliques, dont la fonction est parfois devenue hermétique ou en perte de sens.
