Yggdrasil, 2025
Oil on worm-eaten ash wood
Five interconnectable stools forming a column, 190 x 40 x 40 cm

Made from an ash tree killed by disease and hollowed by bark beetles, Yggdrasil is a modular performative furniture piece composed of stools and a table.
Conceived as a conversation catalyst, the work is activated through use and shared presence.

In Norse mythology, Yggdrasil is the cosmic ash tree connecting the different realms of existence.
Historically seen as a link between worlds, the ash tree becomes here both a symbol of connection and fragility – reflecting the ecological crisis currently affecting European forests.

The beetle’s tunnels, highlighted with oil paint, reveal hidden patterns within the material, blurring the boundary between the visible and the invisible.

The work invites reflection on time, transformation, mortality, and our relationship to the living world – as well as to our own inner ecology.
