The work Portrait of Time consists of drawings representing the face of the same person at two moments in time, twenty years apart. Fabrice Samyn drew the portrait of his neighbour in the mid-1990s and searched for him twenty years later, so he could redraw his portrait. The work consists of three drawings. The first is drawn in black pencil. The second is based on the composition of the earlier drawing, using techniques acquired by the artist in the intervening period. The third is also up-to- date, but is now in colour, and produced in the purest academic style.

L’œuvre Portrait of Time est composée de dessins représentant le visage d’une même personne à deux moments distants d’une vingtaine d’années. Fabrice Samyn a dessiné le portrait de son voisin au milieu des années 1990 et a entrepris une recherche pour le retrouver vingt ans plus tard, afin de refaire son portrait. Trois dessins constituent l’œuvre. Le premier est dessiné au crayon noir, le deuxième se base sur la composition du premier avec la technique acquise par l’artiste durant ce laps de temps. Le troisième est actuel aussi, mais en couleurs et réalisé dans le plus pur style académique.
