This painting represents a detail from a canvas, by Lucas Cranach the Elder, representing Adam and Eve. In this painting, located in the wild Eden, Cranach also painted a deer. By meticulously observing the animal’s eye, Samyn noticed the reflection of a window that Cranach had cheekily painted. Through the re-appropriation of this detail, the artist emphasizes this poetic absurdity that opens up to ample interpretations.

Cette peinture est une reproduction d’un détail agrandi d’un tableau de Lucas Cranach l’Ancien, représentant Adam et Eve. Dans ce tableau, Cranach a peint un cerf situé au milieu de l’Eden sauvage. En observant minutieusement l’œil de l’animal, Fabrice Samyn y a décelé le reflet d’une fenêtre que Cranach a malicieusement peinte. Par cette réappropriation du détail, l’artiste met ici en évidence la poésie de cette absurdité qui ouvre un champ de lectures multiples.
