Calendar Piece I: Ici Chaque Jour, 2008-2009
Golden papers rubbed on graves, variable dimensions 

Ici chaque jour is an installation consisting of 365 clockface glasses, each protecting a square of golden chocolate foil onto each of which the word “ici” has been rubbed. The artist visited various Brussels cemeteries looking for tombs inscribed in French or Flemish, in order to rub this word from the inscription on the grave stele, as in “Here rests…”

Ici chaque jour est une intervention in situ composée de 365 verres d’horloges protégeant chacun un carré de papier de chocolat doré, sur lequel le mot « ici » apparaît par frottage. L’artiste a parcouru divers cimetières bruxellois afin de prélever l’empreinte du mot « Ici » figurant dans la phrase type inscrite sur les stèles tombales : « Ici repose… »
